This is my (Kari's) Body By Vi 90 day challenge video.
We started the challenge on March 8, 2013 and are going to keep you informed of our progress.  My experience so far has been good as I seem to have more energy and I can get my work done with out feeling hungry or
Hypoglycemic. (which in the past, was a common accurance for me) We are having two shakes(1 morning, one afternoon)   daytime and one nigh food meal.  (It can be interchanged)
We also are still riding our bikes to the beach (approx. 1.5 mile round trip) and running on the beach (not a big run) We have a yoga, tia chi work out,  (see my post on tia chi) & (yoga)as we always have but now we are also adding isometrics. (see post about isometrics)

T'ai chi ch'uan or Taijiquan, often shortened to t'ai chi, taiji or tai chi in English usage, is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. It is also typically practiced for a variety of other personal reasons: its hard and soft martial art technique, demonstration competitions, and longevity. As a result, a multitude of training forms exist, both traditional and modern, which correspond to those aims. Some of t'ai chi ch'uan's training forms are especially known for being practiced at what most people categorize as slow movement.
Today, t'ai chi ch'uan has spread worldwide. Most modern styles of t'ai chi ch'uan trace their development to at least one of the five traditional schools: Chen, Yang, Wu (Hao), Wu, and Sun.

Isometric Exercises

Question

Isometric exercises: Good for strength training?

Are isometric exercises a good way to build strength?

Answer

from Edward R. Laskowski, M.D.
Isometric exercises are contractions of a particular muscle or group of muscles. During isometric exercises, the muscle doesn't noticeably change length and the affected joint doesn't move. Isometric exercises don't effectively build strength but can help maintain muscle strength — most often in a rehabilitative setting.
Because isometric exercises are done in one position without movement, they'll improve strength in only one particular position. You'd have to do various isometric exercises through your limb's whole range of motion to improve muscle strength across the range. In addition, since isometric exercises are done in a static position, they won't help improve speed or athletic performance.
Isometric exercises may be helpful to someone who's been injured or has a condition such as arthritis, which could make movement painful or be aggravated by using muscles to move a joint through the full range of motion. For instance, if you injure your rotator cuff, your doctor or physical therapist might initially recommend isometric exercises involving the group of muscles that helps stabilize the shoulder to maintain shoulder strength during recovery.
It's also important to note that isometric exercises generally aren't recommended for people who have high blood pressure or heart problems, because the large increase in muscle tension caused by isometric exercises can dramatically increase blood pressure.
